Shooting at Tip Top leads to arrests
Early Thursday morning, two men were arrested after one allegedly fired off a gun when he objected to the admission price to a local strip club.
According to the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, shortly after midnight deputies responded to the Tip Top Club after receiving a report of shots fired. Deputies learned that a group of men had caused a disturbance over a door-charge.
As the men started to leave, one of them allegedly produced a handgun from his waistband and fired several shots into the air. The men then drove away. Witnesses provided a description of their vehicle and sheriff's deputies and Eureka police officers stopped the vehicle on Broadway in Eureka.
Deputies had all five of the vehicle's occupants step out of the car one at a time. Inside the car deputies allegedly found a handgun, which matched the same caliber of casings found at the Tip Top Club.
Witnesses were reportedly able to identify the shooter as Khamchan Bounlord, 25, of Eureka.
He was arrested on suspicion of negligently discharging a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and a probation violation. His bail was set at $25,000.
The driver of the car, Shaminder Dass, 21, of Eureka, was arrested and booked for allegedly carrying a concealed weapon. He has posted bail in the amount of $25,000 and was released from custody.
